We went to Cardiff and it was sunny, blue skies and hot, not at all leek growing weather
We got the train over only 8Pound return so easier than driving parking etc.
Trip took about 40 mins.
Once there we found policemen everywhere, turns out Wales were playing the Czech republic at the Millennium Dome. There were men dressed in red everywhere and stalls selling scarves , blow up dragons and silly hats, we could have got a red stamp on our faces but decided against it.( click here for photos. photo link ) all the signs in welsh and English.
Walked down to Cardiff Bay where they have spent millions turning the dockside into an area of cafes apartments and parks. They closed off the harbour with the "barrages"and now its fresh
water, as they don't let the sea in just the rivers out.We went on a little boat that looked like the african queen, all open and small , sadly although the trip was nice the driver never spoke to us.

The back to the land and lunch I had nachos but it was a basket made of what seemed like won ton pastry filled with cheese, salsa and avocado and more bits of the pastry in triangles, it was meant to be a pita bread I think. Tasted very nice but breaking off bits of the basket and having exceedingly stringy cheese made it a mission to eat elegantly. We went into the nice red brick building I have a photo of in the album, it was the old Assembly or council building, we had to go through a metal detector to get in and it was just a room and some toilets now, so why the security. even the shop/room had no one in it.
Then we got a water bus back to the centre city , this time we got a commentary. Wandered about then the game came out and there was a sea of red and 100's of policemen. They must have prepared for riots, but as the score was 0 - 0 no one was happy or sad. Sadly when we go to Cardiff castle it was just shut did look very nice form the pictures. The animal on the fence is
just one from there, quite cool really.
just one from there, quite cool really.Back to the railway station where we had to queue in closed off areas outside ( more crowd control) and only let in when our train came, a bit over the top really , I think what ever they were planning for didn't happen.
Back to Bristol a bit sun burnt but sadly didn't hear a lot of welsh spoke, will go back and into the countryside next time.
I hope you noticed the new layout and colour scheme, time for a change.
