London

Friday was just an average day but Saturday dawned fine and I walked down to Temple Mead's railway station wandered through the gates o to platform on to train no one checked anything. It wasn't till I had been on the train for an hour ( and could have got off again ) that my printout of an Internet booking I made with Grabatrain was checked seems wrong not to have a ticket. ( saw this advert no it is not for raisins clever tho)

Nice trip trough the country and small towns etc to London I was one of the first on so had a great window seat with a full window and no one beside me.

Arrived at Waterloo and then realised the problem we would have finding each other, I rang P but he never answered, then I found him amazing really. the station had lots of people going to Royal Ascot races wearing full dinner suits and top hats and women in summer dresses of various elegance or skimpiness, lots of high heels. I can only assume they had not seen the photos in the paper of the mud and women with plastic bags on their feet, or they were planning to spend the day indoors.
Got a call from Len old him were we were at the Waterloo East entrance so he rushed off to Waterloo East station only to then come back again to Waterloo. Still found each other in the end and went to a lovely Italian restaurant where the Portuguese waiter had long conversations with us about wine food sport.......
Then bye to Len and off to find our accommodation,( many tube rides later)

We passed by a lovely pub remebered that NZ playing South Africa and went in turns out were a group of kiwis there watching the game so we stayed, i the other part of the bar were South African, it was funny if we cheered they were quiet and then they would cheer and our group be swearing..( the orange person in the window is P watching the rugby and drinking beer)
A hostel owned by the London School of Economics, all the students are away so we got a twin room. I hope it is not twin normally as it was very small if 2 people have to live in at during term time. Does have a sink tho. Its £25 each per night and that is cheap for London.
Then we went for a walk around Angel and Islington, very nice areas, which included a canal and long tunnel under the roads for the boats.
Then out for dinner in a Greek restaurant for yummy vege food. While we were there a huge downpour, thunder and lightening, the streets were awash and people were scrambling for cover. All the diners sitting outside made a dash for indoors. We were inside in a window seat so had a great view of the panic.
Then got a bus to Piccadilly circus and walked about with all the people going out to clubs and shows etc.
Then back to our twin beds. Sunday dawned wet .. breakfast was included so we went tot he hostel kitchen where the cook was yelling at the serving man about no more eggs etc, not much left tho we did get fresh baked buns still hot from the oven and really nice red current yogurt,P had had some fried food to keep up his fat quota. Now in Oxford street ready for some serious shopping but the shops do not open for an hour hence I will write my blog.
