Cheese day

We`watched the the rugby final at the local and I even wore my red Benetton blazer to show solidarity, the crown were so good they sang and cheered and when the game was over they clapped South Africa.

Sunday we headed off to Cheddar Gorge.( click on link for photos)

I foolishly looked out the window saw Sunshine and felt the heat on our lounge so wore 3/4 pants, got out side and it was quite chilly. Still off we went only stopping for a phone call from my new boss Gabby who was letting me know not to go to work tomorrow as she had fallen off her horse and was having the day off to nurse her bruises. My first day off when himself has to work, a sleep in even....what to do with my day?
Anyway back to the cheesy gorge. Got there and found a park then discovered to get the parking voucher you had to walk half a mile to the crystal cave. So we decided to drive back out of the gorge and look for a park, sadly as he was in the car it decided after 2 weeks of perfection, not to start. So some nice men push started it and we headed off. ( all the rest of the day it started first time again , weird really) . Found a park and walked back into the gorge past the cheese factory , the caves, apparently really nice but at 14pnd each not on the list for today ( though P had collected 32.50 from the bet he had on SA winning the rugby) .

In the gorge were lots of climbers, some at low levels and some doing amazing high and hard looking climbs. We walked through the gorge until we got to where the cliff top path crossed the road and headed up the very slippery slope ( although I think the real path may have been 20mtr further on) Up and up and up and up and finally on the top with fantastic view to Glastonbury Tor, the Axbridge reservoir which had yachts on and down into the gorge itself.
We sat for a while and watched the people on the other side who had decided to forgo the path and head straight up, must have seemed like a good idea near the bottom but half way up they were really struggling.

We walked and photographed and generally rambled like good enlish folk do on a Sunday afternoon. Then down the other side down 281 steps and into the cheese factory where the cave stored cheese was very nice and I bought a pot of chilli Jam . I will save the rest of the trip for the next blog so as to space out the excitment.
