What a big day, we headed off through Bath careful not to see any of it as we will be there Thursday with P's dad.

Then on to Stonehenge, we were driving along and we got to a sign and there it was just in a paddock beside the road, I thought it was a pretend on as I thought it would be more distant form the road some how. Was amazing to see it in real life.
Stopped on impulse at the Kennet and Avon canal turned out to be really good, lots of canal boats tied up and also a viaduct really high above a valley , full of water and canal boats went across it, I have a picture of one that had a girls day out..all drinking wine , maybe we could do that instead of Lake Hawea?
Got to Salisbury and it is a very big cathedral, was amazing walking round inside it looking up, while we were there a priest was speaking and we all got blessed. I lit a candle for all those I love so you will be safe and well for a bit longer.

There was lots of tombs inside it and those ones in the floor that you walk on. The photo is Lady Jane Greys sister and her husband and was very ornate ( if you click the photos you get a full size one)
she gets to be above her husband because of the royal connection.
We went to the Salisbury museum and they had lots of stuff about prehistoric man and things they had dug up. then a walk around the Medieval town itself.

So headed for Old Sarum, an ancient settlement and castle, sadly it was closed in the centre but we did a walk around and got the general feeling.

, they carried on all the way to Avebury. At A the stones were very accessible, you walked amongst them and the sheep and lambs. Then a wine in the Red Lion and then home.

Then back to flat and took a chair down and sat in sun on canal side, read my book and watched the boats and swans. Went and got P and we walked along the canals for a couple of hours checking out the boats and the cafe people, plenty to see on a nice sunny day. We stopped for a wine and a balloon or 5 floated by, the big ones with people in baskets underneath, a nice end to a good weekend.
Cheers from him with the new Supercold Guiness
