Day one we left London in our new (old) car and I drove aarrgh was a bit scary but only had to round one round about the whole way and then leave felt a bit like a comic movie. By the end of the trip P had 3 all the way rounds and I had 1. Don't tell C but we have a sunroof in the car don't have it all the way open incase he burns the top of his head.
Drove and drove till we got to Brighton. Parked the car once we figured out the system ( ok we had to ask) then down to the “front” and our first taste of British beaches, all rocks a strange brown colour and hard to walk on, but regardless there were people sunbathing.

Then we went on to the Brighton pier, felt like we were part all those movie and tv shows.
Was quite long and there was an amusement park with rides at the end including one that spun a huge arm out over the sea..
Then we went to the Pavilion, the beach home of one of the madder Prince of Wales’, it was strangely a drab brown colour, lots more nice stuff in side but was too expensive for us.
They had an art gallery which we went through instead.
Then drove along the coast through Worthing, Bognor Regis, then it is was getting very late.
Went to the New Forest where ponies cattle and donkeys all wander about, was less forest and more large unfenced plains. No accom tho.and dark, and after P went round a roundabout twice we found a B & B in Bournmouth and crashed.
In the morning a full English breakfast and a long chat with the landlady who’s son is in a gothic band Texas drag queen massacre and we got to listen to a song about dead girls while we had our coffee.
Day 2 Then a visit to the waterfront ( where Prince William hangs out but no sighting at 9 in the morning) was the coldest day we have had and a bleak walk up the sand past the coloured bathing huts ( each one had 4 deckchairs and a gas cooker, you can hire them by the day or week.)
Then off along the coast where we got a car ferry that ran on chains on the sea floor and took us across the sea to Poole.
We then went to Corfe’s castle ( we are National trust members so get in free) was great all huge ruins and amazing views real piece of old history in a beautiful village.

Then a highlight we found the world’s biggest Tank museum, I know how lucky was that, I am sure the whole trip was leading up to this. Was actually really interesting got to sit in them and hear stories etc, they can be huge and must have been very frightening to have coming towards you.
To Lyme Regis but was too small and crowded so we went on to Seaton and got a B & B quite quickly. Walk along the stony beach again and long chat to a local, discovered that the boat we could see offshore was organising diving for the container ship that ran aground and the lights were boats unloading the salvage. Fish and chips on the seafront watching the fishermen.
Day 3 This morning we were played the landladies husband cd, more in the style of Frank Sinatra this time and had another huge breakfast, any more of these and P will be starting to grow one of those nice UK mens tummies, boy there are some biggies.
Drove to Beer a lovely fishing village with the deck chairs out but no one on them, lots of fishing boats. Lots of the driving we do if along second class roads i.e. not motorways an
d they are narrow country roads with huge hedgerows on both sides so you can not see anything and you have to stop to lets the cars coming towards you get past.Have seen some amazingly beautiful houses in villages that are like tv sets for quaint olde wolde series, thatched roofs and all. Great to look at but hard to drive though. Then we hit an A motorway and are driving at 80mph in 3 lanes and and cars screaming past at huge speeds.
Stopped at Plymouth to look at Navy ships but they were well out to sea. Visited the Scott memorial though and looked out at the harbour.
Then off through to a heritage building this one was Cotahale which was a medieval house, all the walls were hung with tapestries. Again a lovely place they were so scared of visitors that each room had a minder a worthy man or women who watched to make sure there were no photos or things touched. A lovely sunny day but dark inside.

Then to Beer a really nice fishing village .
Off to the end of the Uk made it to Penzance and even though we walked about have not seen any pirates, there are drunk men about and groups of men seem to be out here more than at home ( except rugby nights ) . Have a nice B & B and will write this can’t believe we have been so far and done so much, hope you can be bothered reading it.

day 4 Left Penzance after a visit to Mount St Micheal a wonderful castle reached on a stone causeway only when the tide goes out, we got the
ferry across and then walked back a really tidy castle and great views,Then drove to Lands End the end of everything, it was a foggy windy day no wonder they have a lot of ship wrecks. we then drove through more windy roads through hedgerows which restrict your view and make driving quite scary at times. We visited some nice beaches and some pebbly ones P moaning at each car park tried to charge us for parking.
P's blog will be far more detailed i am sure. Drove back on the M5 averaged 73miles per hour and were passed by lots of cars speeding past at huge speeds.
Back in Bristol and due to job interviews tomorrow and the next day and hopefully move into flat on Wednesday as well. All go. Missing the folk from home tho......hope you are all well
