flash bang

Yes we stood in the rain brollies up for 20 minutes but we were rewarded by lots of lovely bight colours and flashes of lights a the fireworks went off. A big man stood in front of P ( after he moved from infront of me ) good thing fireworks are up in the sky.

Sunday dawned sunny and the bells woke us at 9.00 so we breakfasted and then headed out for a boat trip to the other end of the harbour. On the way we sat and watched the performers do hula hoops , balancing, the g string men again ( I thought they might adjust their act with all the kids there but not really...and girls swinging and sliding on long ribbons.

Then on to the boat.
Was great to see all the different types including 2 sailing ships ( one that was used in the Hornblower series and as the boat in the Shackleton movie got a nice photo of it as "Sea" in the harbour) . The smaller boat had pirates on, one dressed as Capt Sparrow which the kids loved.
Then we walked back and watched a display of Newfoundland dogs doing water rescues, they leap in and drag the drowning person to safety. You then get revived when they shake all the water off their coat.

P back to home to fix all his photos on the computer and I went for a lovely walk back to Queens Square to listen to a really good big band and enjoy the sun.
FYI his comment about being merry after a beer and a cider at the ostrich doesn't mention that he came home and slept on the sofa for the next 3 hours... such a party animal)
