Derry to Belfast

We passed lots of B & B's until we needed one, drove to Carrickfergus and then backtracked to a sign for accom. Drove up a peninsular past Whitehead and finally when it was getting dark and hopeless, found the Millbay Inn. Well past its best but the man in the back yard burning rubbish had a ring round and when he could not get us a bed let us stay there. It was closing in a few months so they had stopped providing accommodation, but it was clean and tidy and he put the heating on for an hour to air it out ( we were the only ones there).
We went to the bar to see the locals and it was 99% men all drinking Bulmars Cider or Guinness. The man beside us fed a pokie machine with pounds the whole time we were there, what a waste. Next morning there was sun and after a chat to the publican about the AllBlacks, and I got a job offer, they "need" a blonde barmaid, we headed on our way.
Stopped at Carrickfergus Castle, very intact, and a wedding party was there to use the banquet hall. They have life size models of soldiers etc , hence the photo of the little boy with one.
Off to Belfast where we had our first internet and cell phone coverage for the trip... so horrible being out of touch.
