Visiting the long lost relative

I drove today and every road was either a jam of cars or roadworks.... We went around Stuttgart. Didn't really want to

Had a nice stop in Aalen for lunch where the market was on, a nice wander about the fruit and vege.

Then easier travel to Treuchtlingen where we surprised p,s mum's aunt she is 99 this year and was amazed to see people from new Zealand. She had been to Nz in 1984 trying to track down relatives and found p's mum whose family were Krafts from Germany. 

She was very excited to see us and remembered all the names in the rowe family and has a copy of our wedding photo on her bookshelf. The one with all the Rowes.

She was very alert mentally but frail, I guess at 98 she is allowed to be. I love this photo taken with my iPad held at arms length. 

Very brave letting in total strangers but so excited so see us. I was pleased she was home as we had not warned her we were coming but had planned the trip to try and see her.

Said our farewells and are now in Wemding staying in a gasthaus in the old square. There are storks sitting on the roof of the building opposite.
