more from France

and Belgium as we cross backwards and forwards just driving down the roads you switch from country to country only the shops and road signs give ant indication ou have moved across a border.

More battlefields and monuments today .
Paschendale was huge. we also went to the last post playing in Ypres.

the hotel in the forest is one of the smallest rooms we have had but super friendly staff as only 20 rooms.
the weather got hot again and perry got better so we walked about the lake and then the beach opened, it was  roped off piece of lake, free entry though and we sat on the sand and read our books.

there were fishermen around the lake and we saw carp as big as a mans thigh swimming about so it was good that they had nets around the beach I imagine you would get a fright if something  that size touched your leg.

next day up and off  got to 32 dg today so i was glad the car has excellent aircon.
visited a textile museums and many little towns today

this part of France is like rural NZ athough evn greener and more lush, and very very empty of people. those we have met have been really nice and tried to understand my school girl fench . a bit like this ipad qquite disjointed....

we stopped at charles meziers a city witth a lovely car free centre and they are the centre for the world puppet convention where we went to a display of puppets from a play about Van Gogh.

then onto our hotel which is in a huge fort
.this is the view from our window.

Hi Jude and Perry
So good to hear from you again. Sorry Perry has not been well, but now recovered and sounds as though you are loving the travelling.
We have just had a wedding (Phil married to his Japanese fiancee). A beautiful sunny winter day here in Nelson, and now they are off to Japan for a year.
Take care.
Luv and best wishes from Judy and Paul
