Imagine if you can a mouse sneaks in the door of the eating hall and runs across the room. Something needs to be done.
And then like any good french farce there were two running plots with no contact between them as below.....
Option 1
Shut canteen call mouse guy
Use condemned hall for food service
Hire 4 big heaters, get delivered find cash to pay for them
Use caretaker D
Talk to canteen manager to OK and sort
Reorganise 800 girls Xmas dinner
option 2
Shut canteen call mouse guy
Use main hall
move all groups out
Use caretaker C
Talk to gen manager catering coy to sort
Cancel 800 girls Xmas dinner
this is what was happening, one staff had one scenario going all day and one had the other scenario going. I had known about the top one but nothing about the bottom one. The heater guy arrived and refused to put the 4 huge heaters in a wooden building, condemned for being unsafe with only 2 plugs and no fire exit, so the heaters were sent back.
About now I met the second scenario when I got an email cancelling xmas lunch, tracked the chap down just as he was getting told "it was not his job to arrange anything.".. then I explained that the favorite option could not be done as no heaters allowed and that his was now the only option.
all sorted now but what a mixup along the way.
Head now decided I can run everything and just make the decisions and tell her later.... now if she can just get that message across to the staff.
Enough rant, we went to an Indian restaurant for tea cos my head too full to cook..
nice condiments platter with yogurt, fig paste,mango, eggplant chutney, and onion mix
I had a nice eggplant and potato curry with cashews and now am so full I will read my book by the heater .
dad home, mum in Ranfurly hosp with metal pin in leg, all is well with the world.
