No more Weston Super Mare

Well Friday was my last day at the school and I had tidy up day,got a lovely bunch of flowers, wine and a card of a pig flying ( Because I managed to get the same thing ie teachers to hand things in on time).

Went to an Irish pub after work with P and had a Guinness/red wine and read the papers.
Saturday a nice sleep in and then we got the train to Severn Beach, it used to be a beach resort although how miles of mud would ever be attractive is beyond me.
There was a disused train line beside the one we went on to manage the crowds.
The train travelled past a lot of industrial and port land and an atomic energy plant which produced a lot of steam from its cooling plant.
Arrived at Severn beach it was freezing cold and windy.
We decided to stop for lunch at Shirley cafe, a very Mataura 1966 sort of place with everything for sale ie the small pot plants on the window sills and assorted second hand stuff. He had the breakfast and I had a toasted sand which, all white bread of course.
Then a walk along the Promenade, very very cold. A view across the mud and the Severn bridge towards Wales. We were hoping we would see something of the old amusement park and only found the current one well secured behind barbed wire, a very sad collection of chairs and a solitary dodgem car on a circuit about 3 metres in the diameter, what a sad looking place. Its cafe was called Tubby's and not open.
Then we found the visitors centre, as you can see from the photo no one has visited for years again a lot of wire and it looked like it was made out of containers.
Then after all that excitement we headed back to the train and back to Clifton where we pottered, went to the library and got books and movies.
Off out to Marcos restaurant for dinner with the neighbours.
