A long walk and some small bangs

This morning was gloriously sunny so we headed off to do the river Avon trail.
http://www.riveravontrail.org.uk/

We did the portion from Temple Mead to Broom Hill ( or Conham were we attempted to do a loop walk to get good views of the valley and ended up in town so go the bus back ) we walked for about 3 hours and about 6 miles. It was very easy walking along the Avon canal, if we had kept going eventually we would be in Bath.

Tonight we are going to get get a little local train The Severn Railway up to Downs where they are having the Bristol Fireworks display. and then we will get the train back again with a possible stop for tea along the way.
Well we are now back yes got the train, bought food and sat on the grass not paying the 5pound each to get in. Thousands of us scattered on the downs and other paid to get into the main area with a showgrounds array of rides and sideshows.8.30 and the show started we had little ground based fireworks inside which we could see the top half of and big Star shells in the roped off area beside us. Unfortunately the 4th star shell went sideways across the grass and exploded in the crowd at the far end. All fire works stopped and an ambulance came. Then a while later they did the remained of the small fireworks and none of the big ones. Meanwhile we could see in the distance the other public display going on at Ashton, it looked really good. When the last of the little fireworks went off everyone just stood around for a while, then there was collective shrug and all the thousands of us headed down Whiteladies road at the same time creating havoc for anyone in a car.The train wasn't due for 30 mins so we walked home. More poor feet they can tell I covered a lot of ground and himself has sore hips.

Tomorrow a day off I think to read my book and do the mundane washing etc,
