Had a lovely catch up today with K, the kiwi that has bought a house in a small mountain village near here. It is a lovely place very old village 300-500 year old houses and small streets but a large piazza. It is where St Thomas Aquinas family had their summer home on top of hill, must have had a lot of slaves to build it up there.
K’s apartment is the bottom floor of a 4 story villa and she gets to open out on to the olive grove of which she has 5 terraces of trees. Next to her is what was the communal washing tub, a big tub in a man made arch with constantly running water, must have been an amazing place for a gossip in its day. I think now to fill it with plastic and make a nice shady pool to wallow in would appeal. K’s dad is still with her and in training for the Masters games where he runs long distances for great success. The apartment has a long back room that is still raw stone and dirt and has high arched ceilings, wonderfully cool and where she does her painting at present.
I could see the appeal of living in Italy such a simple life and fabulous views.
After lunch we headed back to our place and P settled in to prepare for his walk up Cavendish road to the Abbey ( he needs to print off lots of photos so he can match them as he goes) It’s a long way and it will only happen once.
It is now the next day and he has not gone for the walk instead is matching photos of bridges somewhere in the countryside. Maybe tomorrow I know the plan is to get up at 6.oo to beat the heat of the day, I think I am involved in drop off at bottom and pick up at top, had plans to walk as well but think my feet would blister before we got very far as I have not worn my walking shoes for ages. Also uphill on rough track with bramble snakes ands scorpions has little appeal, all down hill maybe…
Had a nice catch up with Shirl as she was on her computer in Wellington the same time I was using my one in the café in Cassino, so we got to chat in real time.
Not getting any texts from anyone any more expect P so my phone is very quiet…..and no calls at all.

Reason you're not getting any texts is that rest of world has disappeared, just Italy left in the sunshine - oh and Wellington - they were the only places in the world that do decent coffee so they were spared in the Great Bean Deluge of August 2007. (Yeah) SFV
No texts from me anymore as i now have telecom phone (in order to communicate with my children) so sorry. Sounds like all is well with the world, esp in Italy. Not too bad here either, sun shining, blue sky and blossom so spring nearly here!! Miss you, hugs from Rosemary
