Beach Day

(two new photos on the last blog as well)
Time for a day of I thought, went to check emails and ring my dad for his birthday then at 2.00 off to the coast.
Not sure where to go just thought a different direction to our last beach day.
Drove through some lovely countryside to arrive at Minturno. Once there we had a choice of beaches mostly attached to bars, the one advertised as topless seemed to appeal to half the people in the car, but instead we went to "Lido rendezvous " south of Minturno marina. We hired deckchairs and set up under the umbrella provided. The sand was blackish rather than golden but the sea was warmer than St Clair and it seemed a beach that was popular with families as it was busy. P was easy to spot as the whitest person on the beach, I got into the local fashion and wore a bikini ( everyone does regardless of age or size) deep purple it was.
Area is a holiday resort so there were caravans, camps and bars/cafes in the area. We spent a very pleasant afternoon swimming, reading, lazing, watching the pedal boats with slides fixed to them head out and the families splashing about.
Then drove back through a Spa area (Suio therme) that had many hotels and a strong smell of sulpha, just like Hanmer Springs., and past a roman viaduct just crossing the road as it has done for 100/s of years.
Thursday
Met a New Zealand woman who moved to Cassino a year ago as a result of her midlife crisis getting away from 34 years of not being herself she called it, came for a month andnever left and has bought a house and does translations for the war museum, hence our meeting. Her dad was with her over for the masters games, 87 years old and expects to win at lest 3 golds in the running.....and a friend from Keri Keri.
It was nice to have a meal where all but our host Roberto spoke english, and his was very good.
She asked us to house sit her place ( a 500 year old home that she has bought in a village near here ) sadly it is for Septmember and we need to go and earn some money to top up our dwindling bank balance, maybe next year.
Then gelato and P off photographing and I went for a walk to get tomatoes, but so hot by the time I got home I was liquid...
