P and I both had job interviews today, P for the local council gas company...he checks the digital maps versus the printed and advises differences. He has to start with the possible danger zones. Starts next Wednesday, a bit worried it will be boring but it will suit him in that he spends a lot of his time looking at maps at home and he is incredibly thorough. They need 8 people to do it so hired him on the spot.
My interview is for hotel chain doing accounts for 3 hotels. They have 13 really nice ones with spas golf courses etc and manage another 20 that are more bulk market. HUGE issue is my month on NZ as they have another staff member in the same team going to the Caribbean for a poker tournament and they can't work short staffed. My only hope is that his dates some how are earlier than mine. They are interviewing 2 more next week then if I am it I have to have another interview with the next one up the chain of command. It is 9 months so more than I wanted but would get me nicely through winter.
Huge bonus is that it is 3 streets away, took 7 minutes to walk door to door, so obviously I wont get it as I seem to need to be 10 miles away from home for all my work ( well for all the Bristol jobs anyway). We shall see.
Did some more family research am back to 1800's and found greatgreatgrandads family with 6 children and their ages and jobs ( good census data) then GGGG James dies in 1893 and Mary was left a widow. Have found an address for GGG Robert in 1918 in a really posh park of Leith ( he would have been 41years old) and we can see a big house and garden in the Google satellite image so are going to see if we can get a photo tomorrow. From here he went to Methil and set up the Gaeity Theatre and the Savoy Palais de Danse ( capacity 200 dancers).
All good fun amazing how much you can find on the Internet.
