we are now in Roccasecca in the hills past Cassino.
We are staying in a museum.... a villa that the old man of the family died and the children live in Rome but never came home to clear out the house. All the nick nacks and books and old german helmets etc are all about the place. There is some amazing furniture and painted ceilings and a view over the whole Liri Valley. The windows are all shuttered and the walls 3 foot thick.
We have no trouble with what time it is as the clock tower on the church is level with and only 3 mtrs from the lounge window.
It is a small mountain village with a church in a cave and windy paths, we walked up ( dragging our bags ) but the locals use motorised wheelbarrows to move heavy stuff. Annoyingly the pavers are slippery and it is a misty rain today. Still with the cooler and wetter weather I am not tempted to add to my tan! ( which is looking good now ). Italian idea of health care is lying in full sun at midday smoking.
