Brrrrrr

last day
F and P went to Cassino and to the museum they wanted to raise an NZ flag as they had all the other counties from the battle flying. There was no one there to do a formal handover to so with a guide and a ladder P went up on the roof and "flew the Flag" himself. I am sure he will put some photos on his blog....when he finally writes one it will be a novel.
Another boiling hot day so I pottered about, got lost in the old area after making a wrong turn, thank goodness that there is a big hill behind the town and I could orientate myself with that.

The other two came home we borrowed some scales and started the packing. Discovered that Ryan air do 15 kilo in checked bags and 10 in carry on ( in the same size small carry on bag that the others allow) so we had to put all the heavy stuff in the carry on bags and even then F's bag was over by 5 kilos.

Up early and off to Rome we left at 8.am for an eleven am flight.
Traffic was ok but it still took 2.5 hours to get there. The usual driving with lots of use of the middle of the road between our lane and the oncoming cars. The overtakers just scream up the middle and hope other cars will move over.

Into the queue at the airport P off to return the rental ( never scratched it!!!! even after going down some incredibly narrow windy alleys)
got the the front and they never weighed the carry on ( i could hardly lift mine) but as expected F was 5 over, they issue the boarding paseess but keep them while P went off to pay the 15 pound per kilo ( the check in lady gave up a charge for only 3 not the 5 ).
About 45 mins later the check in was closed and P still in the queue for the excess baggage and the time was 10.35 and the plane left at 11.00...... aarrggh

Finally P got the receipt ran back to the Ryan air counters which were now checking in another flight fortunately the man had the passes on one side. We ran for departure had to unpack the laptop , F got growled for being in the wrong lane... made it to the departure lounge at 10.50 and everyone was still there... we then waited and waited and finally at 11.30 we boarded. Then they announced that the plane had missed it leaving slot and we would not go for an hour. All that rush.. still if it had not been delayed we would not have got it.

Easy flight and we arrived in Glasgow first off the plane got our bags and a taxi
Cold and wet I had to change intot he airport into jeans and a jumper. What a difference from 35 c down to 13.
Long taxi trip to Travellodge, a typical cheap hotel room with F sleeping on a sofa about 2 mtrs from P's side of the bed.
Had a walk around the main pedestrian mall lots of shops.
Next day
time to go look about ( all we have done is watch the telly and shower) cold and wet

included some random Italy photos.
