Leaving the beach moving to the museum
Sadly the time came to leave the beach after yesterday when we all spent the morning at the beach the P went of photo hunting and Faye and I started packing.
We had one last coffee at a local café ( where they know our order now) and headed to Caprile. It took a lot
longer than we thought as we would be on the motorway including massive high viaducts? Then suddenly we would be in a town and we could see the motorway, although we had made no effort to leave it at least twice we were suddenly not on it any more. Still it meant we saw some lovely countryside.
Arrived in Caprile to find that K was not sure if we were coming ( P had not emailed for a while as he had not been to the café just F and I had.) and she was not going on holiday so our dog and house sit was not available. Oddly she had other people arrive that she had arranged another house for and they would not stay in it so they had her house we had the one they were meant to be in and she is in a third one belonging to friends. Confused!
The mansion we are in is not near the road so we had to haul ( thanks P ) all our bags round narrow cobbled streets and up many stairs ( guess that’s why the others turned it down) but
it is was worth it. The mansion belonged to a lawyer who died about 20 years
ago and the house had been in his family for generations and nothing has been moved. The drawers are full of old papers, keys, hairclips, knick knacks etc it is like living in a museum ( see photos on link).Marvellous furniture and masses of paintings.
The lounge ( salon ) is fit for a ball with chandelier painted coved ceiling and the family portraits on the wall.
There are even artillery shells and German helmets for P to play with.
The electrics are really dodgy and a lot are falling out of the walls and others spark if you plug in.
the kettle that F bought all the way from NZ that they bought in Italy on her last trip , lives in the lounge as that is the best plug. I unplugged something this morning and the whole lot came out of the wall!
We live on the same level as the church bells and I could climb onto the church roof from one of our 7 balconies, it does mean I have no trouble knowing what time is as it chimes every 15 minutes ( but stops at midnight till 5am thank goodness and
restarts the same time as the rooster)
Fantastic old village all cobbles and hundreds of year old buildings like living in a period play.

Oh - if only the people in the photos on the wall of the mansion could jump out and tell their stories. I would be willing to come over and listen to them. Cheers for the updates and what a real adventure!
