A drive in the country

Twas my birthday but we plan to celebrate in Lisbon where there ar more restaurants and shops! Thanks for all the emails..

We went for a drive to a lovely village that was all made of shist ( think wanaka stone and

posh bars, all those stacked up flat black and brown stones)

anyway it was all made of that and every house had blue window frames and doors.I think there must have been some sort of government offer to do them up as they were all new and all the same!( the windows and doors)

We went to a cafe for lunch ( the only new building in the place it turned out) and got shown to downstairs restaurant..we were the only ones there.. on a balcony overlooking the village.

I ordered mixed salad ( vegetarian) came with ham!!  Joe had Kid casserole ( baby goat)

and soft fries.

Then when we came to pay the machine would not take any of our cards and we did not have enough cash we emptied it all out and were E8 short   oops..... the man spoke no English so it was all sign language.... we indicated we would try to find some more money and went to a big hotel we had driven past earlier but there was only one person there and he could not help.

We went back to the restaurant and they said not to bother, so at least we did not have to do dishes, Joe not happy as he hates owing money.

Then we headed off in the car and after winding round mountain roads we got a detour sign and we headed off on a rough track!  we were on it for half an hour and sent all over mountain sides along ridges down gullies and no signs at all anywhere if it was the right way. The satnav had given up and showed up driving in a blank white space...

Eventually we made it back to civilization and home ( via a money machine)
