A bit of a sleep in to make up for the early start the day before and then we had fresh pastries and headed out to see some of Gaudi’s buildings, starting with the Casa Batllo an amazing curvy building with no straight lines, stair cases like backbones and windows like eyes and lots of mosaic on the walls and roof.

we then walked the streets just soaking in the atmosphere, down to the waterfront for lunch then back through the now asleep streets ( siesta time) to the apartment.
We wanted to have tapas for dinner but found it really hard to find a restaurant as nice as the one we had in London.!!! Eventually found a nice one but had a very
officious waitress. Lovely red wine though. Then a walk home through the alley ways, did not feel unsafe even tho we had been warned about this area I guess it was a bit early for the baddies being only 10pm.
Day 3
Up early and we headed off to get the tourist bus, and we got seats up stairs. It was great sitting in the sun watching all the sights go by. First stop was Parc Guell
http://www.barcelona-tourist-guide.com/en/gaudi/park-guell.html
again a Gaudi creation all strange lines and curving buildings was lovely place to stop and we walked about for a while, and C and I bought scarves and earrings from traders, they stand with their rug with all the goods on it and
rope tied to all four corners which they hold in their hand and when the police come they just pull it all up and run like crazy, twice we saw the police come and the mass panic and escape of the traders.
Next stop was a market to look for clothes etc but it was mostly food, so we had lunch and then went to the closest big intersection where a huge exhibition centre was prepapring for the world mobile phone congress, huge posters of mobile phone companies around the place. We got back on the bus and saw the Barcelona footbal stadium, a bull fighting ring, a monastry, university, olympic village, and the Sagrada Familia ( more on that tomorrow ).
Tried for tapas again for tea but settled for mexican!
DOnt want to leave it is so nice in the sun and too much to see and do yet.
Day 3
Up and packed, C and O and I went to La Rambla the main street and visited the pet stalls set up all along, thought we would never get C away from the bunnies and hamsters and hedgehogs birds, chickens and even squirrels and baby ducks for sale. There were lots of street performers to watch as well. Then back to collect P who had waited in for the apartment agent and we took our bags to the Barcelona bus station and put them in a locker for the day. We then got a taxi to the Sagrada Familia http://www.sagradafamilia.org/eng/index.htm and had a long look around the unfinished church, it is huge and makes you think that the man was a little bit mad.
We then went back to La Rambla and did a shop and had lunch and then off to the airport for the flight at 6pm. Had to fit our bags in the framey thing was a squeeze to get the wheels in but we all passed. Then home to Bristol. A great visit.
