We are back from France, it was wonderful all sunshine and wearing sundresses.
Flew into Perpignan, collected our rental car set the sat nav and headed off into the darkness of French roads. An hour later we were still looking, we had driven into a pine forest, back roads and small villages. I asked a couple, but they were more interest in each other, then I asked a group sitting ourside their house enjoying the warm evening (10pm and still warm) my school french and their non english meant lots of arm waving but we headed back up the road 15km rounds a bend over a hill and there it was near the airport!.
Good start by the satnav.( hereafter called SN)
Next morning we were unsure what was happening the sky seemed to be a strange blue colour all over and it was hot....
We headed off for a drive to Salon en Provence where we were staying for 5 nights.
It was an easy drive ( even on the wrong side of the road) through lovely country although SN likes to send us through the centre of each town , we leave the main road wind through the narrow streets then rejoin the big road... why... who knows.
We tried to avoid the pay motorways but got caught twice before we got it sorted.
We stopped for lunch and at a beach Cap D'Agde for a walk. Then a wonderful place called Aigues Mortes which was a huge fort with a village inside, lots of homes and shops. And I lit a candle in the church to keep us a safe and those at home well... We got too hot and stopped at a beach (Sete) stripped off by the car, splashed about, then stood about till dry and carried on. Lovely warm Mediterranean sea...mmm nice.
A nice drive through the Camargue where we saw lots of the famous white horses, lots of flamingos, and some beautiful beaches, there were lots of bike ways and himself is very keen to go back and ride about. More tomorrow.
