A lovely sunny weekend on Saturday we libraried and shopped but on Sunday we did a trip out to the National Trust Tyntersfield estate. A wonderful big house with masses of rooms and a chapel ,the family who lived in it had made a fortune shipping bird poo from the pacific to Europe. The family had never thrown anything out ( it seemed ) and there were rooms full of old furniture and in the kitchen lots of jam jars.
It had outbuildings for a home farm, a kitchen garden, a stable complex and it's own saw mill and powe
r generator. The last person to live there was an old man on his own with out any servants so he must have rattled around, he had added a tv a microwave and a wine fridge. The National trust rallied around when he died and even though the relatives already had Christies in to auction all the items the Trust managed to buy the lot.

P was most impressed by the libraries, one all leather and old books and one all war books published in the last 100 years, I think he would have had a great time if only he had been allowed to open them!
Some lovely daffodils.
The home garden had the big brick wall and lots of espalliered fruit trees and was in very good order, the pineapple house and orangery where still being renovated.
Then we came home and I am making home made paneer or cottage cheese, boiled the milk and the instant the lemon juice went in we had curds and whey. I am making a an indian dish for dinner. Meanwhile P is making a pavlova for his work tomorrow, will be quite a lot of beating as we only have a whisk.
