Had a quiet weekend for Friday Saturday but today decided we really should venture into the wilds so we headed off to Glastonbury. http://picasaweb.google.co.uk/rowejdi/Glastonbury photo link
We drove via some of the less travelled roads, well I took a left then another one and did find some lovely country lanes with a large moat like water way on one side and paddocks on the other.
Made it to the Tor, found a park and then discovered we were on the "back side' of it, so we walked straight up! Good thing I had my tramping boots on ( I bought them to be a good English rambler and have been wearing them in ) It was very very steep and wet I was glad to have P to hang on to and hoist me up the steeper bits. Got half way up and we stopped to pant for a bit then carried on to the top.

Went round twice or so checked out the rain clouds rapidly approaching ( decided not to be like the couple that took a turn of piggy backing each other round he carried her a lot easier than she carried him). Found a much easier path all the way down and made it back to the car. Then into town for lunch. After a very slow lunch keep entertained by a
strange family group next to us exchanging Easter presents and getting all emotional about them.

Abbots kitchen is still intact and must have been very hot when it cooking for all the Abbots guests.

Joseph of Arimethea's rose bush was sadly not flowering ( which it is meant to at Easter, must have been a bit cold for it). It is said to be his travelling staff put into the ground and then grew into a tree. We also saw where King Arthur is said to be buried. Lots of English history all in one place.
