Montpelier

We had a lovely visit in Nice with Shirley and now it was time to head off for Montpelier.

Drove all day off and on the motorway and all sorts of back lanes, sat nav getting mad at us for leaving the main road, but we did not want to pay any tolls.
Stopped at a huge aquaduct.
We did not mean to get as wayward as we did, we overshot the airport and had to do a big loop round and back. we left the car there, they did not bother looking at it all all ( ok is it? full of petrol? yes fine see ya). then bus to town and a tram to find our hotel. It was an odd area quite
old houses and abit of a nothing area no shops or dairy so once we settled in we had to walk for 1 mins to find a shop. The hotel was modern seemed to be some sort of timeshare hotel for business people, we had to the clean up when we left. No tea cups so P drank his tea from dessert bowl.

Next morning on to the tram, a great new system paid for by European union grant. Great colours and easy and cheap. Into the centre of town we pottered around the old town it was lovely, hot no cars, lots of fun shops and cafes. I bought a Paris designed brown flouncy suit style jacket, not sure when I will wear it but could not resist.
Went to an art gallery and saw a display of works by Alphone Mucha, including his Sarah Bernhart poster series. Look him up on the link on his name, you will recognise his work.
It was a great display.

We really spent our time there pottering about a nice relax though it was very hot, the city had some lovely trompe l'oeil of whole sides of building. One of the photos the one with P patting a dog is in fact a painting with his standing next to it

Then finally after a couple of days we headed off to the airport and home to Bristol.
Luckily the plane made up time on the flight and we arrived 30 mins early , in time for the last train home.
A great holiday away.
