We had a lovely night out with my Uncle Doug Aunt Christine and Fiona and partner we have been only doing local things.
Flat hunting not going well so far they are either too small or gone before we get to view them.
We went to flat viewings today one on the waterfront that had floor to ceiling views of canal ( it was on canal side) but one bed room had a middle panel all whitened out for privacy i imagine and the other the bed touched three sides of the room so not huge amount of space. I think I might be cold as when I stepped onto the balcony it was quite windy up the canal. Great view from the flat of the armories jousting park so that would have been free entertainment. decided would be too small for 4 of us.
then lunch at turkish cafe
huge violent down pour then the hot hot sun came out again
then a house vieiwing that we loved it had 3 bedrooms and a large lounge and conservatory facing south
lots of people viewing and the agent closed so we have emailed and sent off a completed application form and now wait till Monday
it is a detached house on a street with lots of cafes and shops. ( did not get this one someone on the doorstep with money when agent opened.
Later this afternoon we went for a wander and watched the Caribbean Cricket club play
Then we followed the sound of loud music and found a Jamaican festival so sat at the cafe opposite and had afternoon tea and listened to the "beats"
On walk home the clouds broke again and it chucked it down ( I did have a brolly but fitting a tall man and me under it was not ideal.
school finished yesterday so we are on a 4 week break
no passports yet ( 16 weeks) and Claire here in 4 weeks
Finally found a flat not the greatest size bedroom for Claire and Blair but nice location and Lounge area. so we were signing it up when I got a phone call to say a house we looked at had come back on the market and we were the only ones told so far. We rushed over and took it , then had to get our £200 back off the first agent ( and they did give it back)
Now doing all the paperwork, will move in 1 September. Really big new kitchen dining room and loung all open
then two bed two loos and the loft is all lined our and heated with velux windows so a good place for the modelling man ( made a helicopter as latest project)
Finally the August holidays arrived we worked a couple of week and then moved all my office to a new location, should be a lot quieter not by the sixth form exit and main office although there will be four of us in the space.
And now we a just back from a week up north, we went to a lovely b & b in the Yorkshire dales that was an old railway station. It obviously backed on to the train lines and at 6.30 a steam train went by at great speed.
We went into a local village for a meal and then back to the very quiet b &b in the countryside, being Sunday night no more trains went by.
Next day up and off to Grange over sands on Morcombe Bay, we traveled there via a winding route with lots of stops so the one hour journey took five hours.
Our b&;b here was a large manor house very grand with an award winning garden.
We headed out to the main street along the promenade ( it is all marsh land between the promenade and the water so not really beachy at all ) where we had seen lots of cafes but after walking the length of the street only found one cafe open and that was an Indian restaurant, so that is what we had. Only
us and two others there, a very quiet night in Grange over Sands. A lots of retirement homes here so maybe they are all in bed.
After a nice vegetarian full English breakfast we headed off to Lake Windermere a beautiful part of the country I can see why so many people go there. Imagine queens town with out the high rise and development. They are very strict about building here and there are not even many homes. We spent most of the day in Bowness the town at the bottom end of the Lake. It was really hot sunny and no wind so we even went on a lake cruise. .link to photos
We also went on a drive to another of the lakes and then back to Bowness to have dinner at a hotel overlooking the lake then back to Grange.link to our photos
Next day off to Blackpool via a wandering route again. Not over enamoured of Blackpool lots of "entertainment" and takeaways that did not appeal. It was raining by now so we got the tram from one end of the front to the other past the three piers.
After the scruffiness that was Blackpool front ( apart from the new trams and promenade which were lovely) we found our way to our B & b and it was so nice.Run by two men ( members of the rainbow flag group ie gay friendly group) the area has rainbow flags on a few of the B & Bs in this area so you know.
The rooms were Plush the carpet was thick the furnishings all sorts of colours and antiques everywhere. quite cluttered but very cosy and incredibly clean. trip advisor have more photos if you fancy a look at the bedrooms.
And here we are home again.
