Finally got around to using the hotel booking I made for my birthday in March but which had to be postponed for P to go to Italy. We went to the Black Swan in Fearby set between the Yorkshire Moors and the North Yorkshire dales. It was like being in New Zealand lots of sheep, lots of green but much older houses and farms.
Out the back was about 20 caravans and some had people on holiday , nice in the rain.
Deal included meals so we headed in for a meal, the website has fabulous food but it was a bit tasteless really.
Went for a wander around the village after tea very nice stone cottages.
Day two up, breakfast and more rain. We decided to go for a drive to a market at Masham, only managed to buy a plate at the second hand shop.It is probably just as well not to ask for an ice-cold cider in Masham, better to try Theakstons Old Peculier, or Black Sheep Bitter as they are brewed there.
Went looking for a coffee and found a train instead so we went for a trip for 2 hours on the Wensleydale train.
Every field seemed to have 3 rabbits and a pheasant or two.
Then back to the hotel and a walk ( It was to be training for my Hadrians wall walk) so we set out with our coats and did not need them as it stayed fine all afternoon. It was a lovely walk across paddocks of sheep and horses to a village then back along lanes.
photos of the weekend
Next morning up and off to the Abbeys first we went to Jeraulx Abbey, a really lovely setting, huge ruins and wild grasses and flowers. Very peaceful.

, really big so we did a tour with a guide.

Then away home.
Got a letter yesterday asking us to go get our Biometric fingerprints and photos done. I think this is a good sign surely they wouldn't make us do that and pay the money if they were going to turn us down.
We went in this afternoon ( left school early ) and had it done.
