We are in London for ten days doing a house sit in Camberwell, just us and 9 cats. The cats are lovely and spend 90% of their time sleeping in cupboards and under stairs etc so not too much trouble
Lovely and handy to town with masses of buses passing though the area, yesterday we went to Chelsea, P to the military museum and me to see how the rich live. The average rent for a 2 bed flat is £4,000 per week I know what a huge amount of money. Pretty sure when Claire and Blair come over next year this will not be where we live.
We have 2 couples joining us for new year and we will go to the fireworks on the embankment and then the next day to the new year parade, should be fun. ( and a girly day at the sales as well)
Christmas day here and very quiet with just the two of us, not gone mad with food but have plenty of nice cheese and wine so am sure i will survive.
we went to a local pub last night only to find it shut at 9.00 so off to the next one, quite strange this is an afro carribean area but the pubs was full of white middle aged people, all the local black people were in the hair salons and nail bars of which there must be 3 per block and all packed! the men having their heads shaved ( always at least 4 going at a time and many more waiting, and the nail bars have 5 working and 6 waiting and many more milling about. the nail bars seem to be run my young asian men and women with face masks .
Had a long chat with Claire yesterday , her xmas day, and skype call with my dad.
Then a skype call to the Rowe family get together, a riotous affair with lots of pudding, P did look a bit sad at missing the food, but Michael and his spoon will have helped finish p's share.
Plan to go into Hyde Park winter wonderland and go ice skating and then we have 5 days or so where we can explore bits of london we have not been to , normally we are visiting archives everyday but this time they are closed.
Leeds is still good and we are both working still in Bradford and are guaranteed work until at least end of January.
Better go light the fire in the snug and get settled for the queens speech ( well maybe a dvd instead)
