Dorset and devon

photos of weekend on the coast

we drove to Torquay on Thursday night to meet Linda H from NZ and found our little B & B.
Went to town for dinner aarrggh not a lovely place at all, a bit tired and lots of noisy teenagers, it seems that there are lots of language schools. Also lots of rough types hanging about.

Saturday after the breakfast we headed off for a drive and went to Agatha Christies holiday house
what a nice place she must have earned a lot of money.

Then off to Slapton beach where there was a tank as a memorial for a lot of lives lost at a practice for the invasion of Europe. P took lots of photos so I think that will be the next model.

Dinner again in Torquay in a Wetherstones and it was noisy and busy.

Up and off in the morning to Castle Drogo after calling in at an art/craft show in Bovey Tracey.

a very square castle but lovely in door warm and softer.
nice national trust cafe and gardens for lunch.

Then drove to Exeter and had a look about the quayside then off to Exmouth to find a B & B.
Got a nice one off the internet and moved out bags in. Went into town and had a proper restaurant meal much nicer than the night before. Then a long walk along the front.

Next day drove along the coast stopping at Budleigh Salterton, Sidmouth, and Charmouth.

Sidmouth was lovely and we spent the afternoon there, P in a book sale and linda and I pottering about.

Stopped at Charmouth on the Jurassic coast to look for fossils but found nothing,

then home and linda away to NZ on Monday

A lovely break away.
