Was this weekend so like all the other families we headed off to a stately home for a visit.
This time though it was whole village owned by the national trust ( of which we are a member by joining the NZ version at half the cost). The village or Laycock was beautiful, often used in movies it has no modern powerlines or other give aways that is it now not then.
they filmed some of Harry Potter here in the Abbey.

We did a tour of the Abbey first a lovely place that was still being lived in by one woman up till last year. It stopped being an abbey in Henry 8th time and had been a family home since then
.
After the abbey and a walk round the village we did a ramble for 6 miles up round the hills, we had a guide book but managed to get off track twice, not a big deal this close to town but meant we walked a bit longer....
then back to the town for lunch and a cup of tea then away home.
the cafes were full of mums for their special day but the traffic was an easy drive so not to bad.
We now have three lots of NZ visitors coming to stay and no overlaps, so exciting, and now we have a car at least we can show them round a bit.
spring is here my daffodils are flowering in a couple of weeks we will head off to the large forest near here as they apparently have a magnificent show.
