Cambridge

had a lovely weekend in Cambridge, like
Oxford with
huge colleges and
lots of students.
once they get a BA after three years they send a cheque and get sent a masters with no
more work being done in the
meantime! good system huh

drive there was average with
road works, weather was cold and snowing, went to a spanish restaurant had had tapas for
dinner, all nicely flavoured ones , then a cold walk home. The streets are like a movie set for
Victorian England all dark, narrow, cobbled, foggy and ill lit, there are masses of bicycles everywhere.

day 2 we went to Duxford, an air museum, huge it was with a concord and a plane like the
one that dropped the bombs on Japan and lots of warplanes. Before that we spent all morning in the archives going over german war records and copying them, hard on by 3rd form german but we got a lot of good stuff for himself, the visit to the archives got us free
entry to the airport museum saving £16 each, it was a huge area with 5 hangers full of stuff.

then back to town and a walk about looking for a nice place for dinner, first place we tried was Greek, we went in sat down read the menu 8 pages of every food imaginable but very little greek
food and most came with chips, so we got up and left. then found a better restaurant and had a fantastic meal with the nicest apple pie and ice cream ever very thin one layer of apple pie and they made their own ice cream

next day we did a walking tour of Cambridge and visited the old churches. colleges chapels, pubs etc.. very good a lovely place all round such huge ornate buildings
then a walk up a hill then into the car
and off home

trip went well until 2 motorway stops from home when they closed the motor way and I had to spend
an hour winding round unlit back roads with 100s of car lights coming towards me... it was horrible
